Otley and Yeadon Councillors Colin Campbell, Ryk Downes and Graham Kirkland have welcomed news that the Council's Executive Board have agreed that regeneration schemes for the Market Place, Otley and Town Hall Square, Yeadon have been moved up to the next stage in the Council's Town and District Regeneration Scheme.
Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said "The Town and District Regeneration Scheme is a new initiative set up by the Council to improve and regenerate the outer areas of the city. We were very pleased when Otley and Yeadon were included in the initial proposals but the recent good news from the Executive Board has moved these schemes up to the next stage in the process."
Councillor Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) commented, "Approval has been given for detailed proposals and costings to be drawn up. These will then be looked at again by the Executive Board who we hope will give the go ahead for the schemes to start."
Councillor Graham Kirkland (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) added "A regeneration scheme for Wharfemeadows Park has already moved on to the next stage of the process. Leisure Services officers are currently working on the proposals for a major face-lift for the park. Hopefully a final agreement can soon be reached and work could start next year. This along with improvement works already taking place at Yeadon Tarn means that there are major improvements in hand for two local parks."
