Hyde Park and Little London have a new Neighbourhood Warden helping keep the streets of West Leeds safe. Working in conjunction with the existing two wardens in the area, Travis Walsh will be based at 15 Holborn Court, Woodhouse. Travis, who is officially the youngest warden in the city at 20 years of age has a background in public services and is a qualified life guard. Local Cllr Linda Rhodes Clayton has extended a warm welcome to Woodhouse's latest arrival.
Cllr Rhodes Clayton (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said, "Travis' addition to area is great news. Neighbourhood Warden's provide a vital service to both the local community and their colleagues in the Police. Travis' age will hopefully make him more approachable to the young people in the community which can only be a good thing. My ward colleagues and I will look forward to working closely with Travis in the future."
Notes to the Editor:
· Neighbourhood Wardens work in communities to reduce crime and fear of crime, deter anti-social behaviour and care for the environment. Patrolling the streets is a major part of their work and they act as extra eyes and ears for the police and local authorities. Their role varies depending where they work but can include - reporting environmental and housing repairs, visiting vulnerable residents and supporting Neighbourhood Watch groups.
