Lib Dem Cllrs David Hollingsworth, Richard Brett and Ralph Pryke are pleased to announce that a new and improved 5 a side football pitch, complete with goal posts is now available for use in All Saints Park, Richmond Hill. Local Councillors donated £500 of MICE money to get the pitch remarked and goal posts erected in time for the School summer holidays. The idea for the revamped pitch was the brainchild of local Neighbourhood Wardens Barry Smith and Anne Waite. Recognising the importance of local youngsters having leisure facilities to keep them occupied during the summer, the Neighbourhood Wardens surveyed local residents who gave positive feedback to their proposal.
Councillor David Hollingsworth (Lib Dem, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) said: "I am delighted that the 5 a side pitch is in place in time for the summer holidays, a time when young people need facilities such as this to keep them occupied. Barry and Anne must take a great deal of credit for getting the project off the ground. The obvious correlation between boredom and anti -social behaviour is not lost on anyone. The pitch is a huge boost."
