Rise in Race Hate Saddens Cllr

Lib Dem Councillor Kabeer Hussain (Hyde Park & Woodhouse), has spoken of his anguish at the alarming rise in race related crimes in West Yorkshire since the 7/7 bombings. Reports have filtered out from West Yorkshire Police that has been 306 race - hate crimes reported in West Yorkshire in 4 weeks since the atrocities in the capital*.
Councillor Kabeer Hussain (Lib Dem, Hyde Park and Woodhouse) said "The sudden rise in hate crimes is very disturbing and there is an obvious correlation with the horrific events in London. I would like to send a message of defiance to all perpetrators of these crimes that these divisive acts will not be tolerated. As a community here in Leeds we have all been saddened by the acts of a few extremists. We cannot and will not let our communities become divided."
