Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon), the Lead Member responsible for Streetscene and Recycling on Leeds City Council, is delighted that the new bins are in place.
Councillor Ryk Downes said "When the Liberal Democrat, Conservative and Green administration took over the running of the Council last July, one of the first things we said we'd do was to make Leeds a greener city by providing initiatives to keep our streets clean and to encourage recycling".
"The new bins are an excellent way of boosting recycling at the same time as helping to keep our streets clean. In the past the rubbish collected from litter bins on Leeds streets went straight to landfill. When you consider how many bins there are in Leeds that's a huge amount of waste; much of which could have been recycled."
"I'd like to encourage everyone to use the bins responsibly in order to help make our communities cleaner and greener".
