The Budget figures, set to be released by Leeds City Council's Liberal Democrat, Conservative and Green administration at Full Council on Wednesday 23rd February, will show a significant growth in revenue available for the City's schools.
£3.4m in funds has been made available from the Council's Individual School's Budget, £1.1m to be allocated to the Primary Sector and £2.3m to the Secondary Sector. The administration have decided upon the cash boost after consultations held across the City with over 150 headteachers and governors revealed where additional funding could be best spent.
Cllr Richard Harker (Lib Dem, Moortown), Leeds City Council's Executive
Board Member for Lifelong Learning said : "We have worked hard to ensure
that we have been able to put more money into Education. The £3.4m made
available is there to help schools across Leeds, with a significant
provision for those in the secondary sector. The Liberal Democrats are
committed to providing an education for all young people."
