Councillors Greg Mulholland and Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley), together with the Lord Mayor Cllr Chris Townsley, celebrated the start of the Christmas period with some of Headingley's older residents on Monday evening (6th December). A party was held at St Michael's Church to coincide with the turn-on of the Headingley Christmas Lights.
Cllr Greg Mulholland said "Once again, the Christmas lights switch-on had a real community feel this year. I'd like to thank each and every one of the local businesses and organisations that have made donations towards the cost of the lights. I'm delighted to see so many of them willing to support the local community in such a generous manner."
Cllr Martin Hamilton said "To coincide with the lights coming on, the ward Councillors supplied funding towards a tea party in St Michael's Church for some of Headingley's senior citizens, with the Lord Mayor Chris Townsley in attendance. We all enjoyed ourselves - it was a great way to start the Christmas period."
