A new bus advert is warning parents that missing just a few days of primary school can seriously damage their child's future.
Education Leeds hopes that parents will think again about taking their children out of school after they see the adverts on buses across the city.
The message is a simple one - primary schools are the foundation of a good education, and if your child misses school then their future could crumble.
The campaign is being run by Education Leeds Attendance Champions. It is the latest in a series of innovative schemes to increase regular school attendance and highlight its benefits. The campaign has so far focused mainly on secondary schools, but these adverts take the message to parents and carers of primary school children.
Councillor Richard Harker, executive board member with responsibility for education, said:
"Every school day is important. At primary school age, most unauthorised absences are parentally condoned. We have to remind parents that by denying their children a full education they are risking their future - thankfully, most parents and children realise this but we need to target those who don't."
