Local Councillors Andrew Tear and Alan Taylor (Lib Dem, Harehills) are happy to see plans by Leeds Council to knock down houses and shops on Scarth Avenue, but they want local residents to be asked what they would like to see happen there in future.
Cllr Taylor said "The Council plans to buy the 23 properties on Scarth Avenue, then bulldoze them to make way for new development - possibly housing. The Harehills Lib Dem Councillors have written to people living near Scarth Avenue to let them know what's going on , and asking for their views".
Cllr Tear added "It's good news that steps are being taken to improve the area. Many of the houses on Scarth Avenue are empty and being vandalised. It's vital that any plans for the future are made with the wishes of local people in mind. If residents have ideas for what they'd like to see happen on the site, they should let the Council know, or contact myself or Alan Taylor".
