Rose Grove Garages to Go

Local Lib Dem Councillors have been pressing for action to demolish and remove the run down garages on Rose Grove on the Wood Lane estate in Rothwell and the go ahead has now been given.
Councillor Steve Smith said "I am delighted that the pressure we have brought to bear has resulted in agreement to remove these eyesores and clear the site. Local residents have expressed concern for some time over the state of garages at Rose Grove. Not only have they have been used for dumping rubbish but they have also been set on fire on a number of occasions."
Following an on-site meeting with demolition contractors last week work is scheduled to commence tomorrow, 10 March.
Councillor Don Wilson added "We became aware of the problems surrounding the garages over 12 months ago and they have provided a focus for anti-social behaviour. I'm pleased to see that money has now been found to improve the area."
