Metro (West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority) along with other Passenger Transport Authorities around Yorkshire are reviewing personal safety and security issues around public transport.
Cllr Linda Sullivan (Lib Dem, Bramley) who is a member of West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority, will be asking that the review considers safety around railway stations in Leeds.
Cllr Sullivan said "This is good news as many of the stations in and around Leeds can be a lonely place to wait for trains, especially on dark evenings. Ways of improving safety at stations can include better lighting and round-the-clock staffing. Also, better co-ordination with bus services to ensure that people don't have to wait around too long, and well-lit car parks, can make stations much safer".
Note:- METRO's review team met with Police reps in January and are planning more discussions with police and other partners. The review looks at the perception of crime as well as crime itself.
