roll out of green bins across Leeds 6 is victory for the environment, residents and "streetscene"
Green recycling bins are now common place in Britain but Headingley has had to fight harder than most areas to get them say local Councillors.
Cllr David Morton (Lib Dem , Headingley) said. "the paradox in Headingley is that the student population is very environmentally aware. Virtually the only thing students write to me about is the lack of green bins and recycling facilities. The irony is that it's been issues around student housing and presentation of waste that has stopped the roll out of wheelie bins full stop, let alone extra green bins."
"Now that we have 'streetscene' these issues have been largely resolved and its been great to see green bins delivered all across Headingley and Hyde Park over the last 10 days. We look forward to working with residents to get a really good take up rate but I accept we have a huge public education effort to undertake."
